Jirisan_Round TWO

This time on the other side of the National Park I hiked to Cheonwangbong peak, just another notch in that Korean mountain belt.

It was spring and lovely at the base of the mountain where we began at 6AM. But a time warp back into the winter season awaited us as we made our way up the 1915 meters to the peak.

The scenery was beautiful with bamboo and rocky trails. The sun was shining, but the ice and snow made for an unexpected challenge and bitter cold morning.

The group spanned from around the world. A Korean climber inquired about our origins and the line sang something along the lines of "Malaysia", "Columbia", "Czech Republic", "China", "America", "Russia", "Canada", "England", "Korea", "Korea", "Korea"...... The languages spoken and stories shared inspired me to keep traveling, learning, and having new experiences.

[rest time, finally]
